James Madison University, a well-known public university in my hometown of Harrisonburg, is handling the ‘worst case of sexual assault’ in their history by allowing the perpetrators to graduate and banning them afterward.

Meanwhile, the student who was assaulted lost her financial aid when her grades slipped while trying to deal with bringing her rapists to justice and had to leave school.

The links in question:

http://www.whsv.com/news/headlines/Former-JMU-Student-Speaks-Out-on-Sexual-Assault-263548111.html

So even when there is absolute definitive proof on tape of an assault, the victim is paying the biggest price and the perpetrators are allowed to stay at school.

This is not right.

so its clear, the perpetrators are facing:

banned from campus after graduation (cannot go to commencement or tailgate in subsequent years (if the police recognize 4 white dudes))

banned from student organizations

that is it

"oh no
i cant go to commencement”

This sends the worst sort of message to the student body as well as the victim. “We’re only taking this seriously enough so as not to harm your reputations or careers in any way” . The problem being, these sort of moral lapses are supposed to have consequences- at least for people who aren’t the victims.

I’m really quite tired of seeing universities intentionally fail the victims and enable the perpetrators.

Israel Destroys Entire Gaza Neighborhood In An Hour

July 29th, 2014

An entire Gaza neighborhood is decimated within an hour by Israeli air strikes. The video is further proof that Israel has no regard for the life of innocent Palestinians.

Israel attacked Gaza’s only power plant on Tuesday, leaving the Palestinian territory’s 1.8 million residents with no electricity or running water and opened the possibility of an even graver humanitarian crisis.

After three weeks of violence between Israel and Gaza, more than 1,100 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli air and ground strikes. About 75 percent of Palestinian deaths have been civilians. Several thousand have been wounded and more than 100,000 displaced. Fifty-three Israeli soldiers have died, as well as three civilians.

Just look at the casualties. This is not a war, it is genocide.

I think Hiccup and Astrid are the best animated couple ever.

I love how their relationship isn’t a major plot point for the films. Astrid isn’t there as a reward for the hero, she is also his best friend (next to Toothless of course). She didn’t stop being a warrior after she became a love interest (and Hiccup wouldn’t want her to, he loves her for it).

They talk about their problems. They fight their enemies together. And they trust each other.

Something that I’m just noticing from these gifs. They actually lean their cheeks into the kisses, opposed to just letting the other do all the work.  That’s something actual couples do when they know each other well enough to know it’s coming.  I love this.
